Yard notebook / PC full release — November 2026
First competition: prepare for Caprilli and enter from town
Start with beginner Caprilli: complete the corresponding competition-license course in the Arena, prepare a fit and clean horse and upgrade the Parking Lot for a trailer. Go to the town competition entry and select the horse there. It loads automatically at that point; a trailer showing 0/2 before selection does not mean you must return home and manually load it.

The decision, step by step
Complete the matching license course
In the Arena, choose the course marked as competition-license training for the discipline you intend to enter. Complete it successfully with the intended horse before trying that discipline’s competition. Caprilli is the starter-friendly route in the launch guide. Do not substitute an unrelated training run for its license.
Make the horse and rider ready
Check Medical, current strength/endurance, Confidence and the remaining exercise budget. Groom visible dirt and wear appropriate competition clothing. Avoid spending the day’s safe exercise allowance in practice before travelling. Entry costs money, so keep a buffer for an unsuccessful attempt.
Upgrade Parking for trailer ownership
The first Parking Lot upgrade enables trailer ownership. Confirm this prerequisite before planning the entry. Trailer capacity is a transport limit, not a manual horse-loading puzzle on the farm. Further Parking upgrades can increase capacity; they are not required just to fill the first slot.
Select your horse at the town competition entry
Go to the competition entry in town, choose the discipline and eligible horse, and proceed with that entry. The launch Steam trailer thread confirms the selected horse is loaded and moved automatically. Seeing 0/2 before choosing the entry horse is the exact situation those players resolved this way.
Ride for a clean result, then check progression
Manage strength and the gait needed for obstacles. Avoid refusals, falls, knocked rails and missed gates. Courses have varying obstacle sequences, so a memorised sequence is not a guaranteed solution. Read the result after finishing. You must win each level with that horse before entering the next level in the same discipline: Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, Advanced.
What success looks like
The intended horse can enter the chosen competition and loads at selection, you finish the course and read the result. A win, rather than merely an entry, advances that horse to the next level in that discipline.
If the result is different
If the horse is not eligible, check the discipline license, health and current level before buying more transport capacity. If the trailer is empty before selection, choose the entry horse in town. If the run goes badly, train the weak stat or Confidence and return with a recovered horse.
