Buildings: what to build for space, training and breeding
Upgrade the facility that removes your current blocker. Stable upgrades add horse places; Pasture upgrades give stable groups outdoor access without adding stalls. The Arena opens training, the Parking Lot unlocks trailer ownership after its first upgrade, and the Main House contains the office and library. Breeding Station and Yearling Paddock investments belong to a planned breeding cycle.

Match a building to the blocked task
Read the function first, then check the in-game upgrade price and daily running cost before committing. A larger building creates an ongoing expense even when you are not using all its capacity.

| Building | What it does | When it is useful |
|---|---|---|
| Stable | Starts with four horse places; upgrades reach up to 20 and add groups | You need an adult stall or separate stable group |
| Pasture | Outdoor access for stable groups; no extra stable capacity | You need turnout for more of your existing groups |
| Main House | Office, library, dressing room and staff/management features | You need contracts, reference books or staff |
| Parking Lot | First upgrade permits a trailer; later upgrades add transport capacity | You are preparing to travel with a horse |
| Riding Arena | Training including lunging, jumping, cross country and Caprilli; upgrades add courses | An available quest or competition requires a course |
| Breeding Station | Home breeding; stage 2 opens the Lab | You are ready to cover or preview a pair |
| Yearling Paddock | Separate young-horse places; not adult stalls | Repeated breeding would otherwise fill your stable |
Keep Stable capacity separate from Pasture access
A higher-level Pasture does not create horse stalls. A Pasture below the Stable’s level can leave some groups without turnout. Check both levels and the gates for the relevant group. Stable stage 2 adds a second group, useful for keeping stallions and mares apart; closing the fields does not prevent covers within a mixed stable group.
Budget the breeding facilities
These launch-guide costs come from Johan’s breeding report. They cover the listed stages only, not every farm upgrade. Check your current save before buying.

| Upgrade | Purchase | Daily running cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Breeding Station stage 2 | 5,000 | 40 | Lab; reported build time three in-game days |
| Yearling Paddock stage 1 | 5,000 | 20 | Six yearling places |
| Yearling Paddock stage 2 | 10,000 | 100 | 13 yearling places |
Plan the next adult stall before a youngster ages up
A yearling place does not convert to adult housing. Reserve a stable place before age 12. If an adult youngster was sent to town for lack of space, free a suitable stall and go to the sale barn in town to retrieve it. A launch Steam thread’s original poster confirmed this recovery route; an office horse list is not the retrieval action.
Check that the upgrade solved the original problem
After construction, inspect the actual places, group or course you needed. If your goal was turnout, check the pasture gate for the correct group. If it was the Lab, wait for Breeding Station stage 2 construction to finish. If it was an adult stall, do not count unused paddock places.
