Horses of Hoofprint Bay breeding: from pairing to foal

For a first foal, use the town breeder once you have the 200-coin Parking Lot for trailer access. If you own a stallion, Breeding Station stage 1 lets you cover your own mares. Choose by both parents’ potential, keep stallions and mares in separate stable groups until you are ready, then confirm the sire and due day in the mare’s Medical Report. A foal is born after eight in-game days.

The decision, step by step

  1. Choose what this foal needs to do

For a strength-and-endurance goal, compare potential in both stats before paying for a pairing. For a coat project, use the Lab’s possible-foal preview when available. Raise the mare’s Confidence before the cover if you want a better starting Confidence for the foal; training the parents’ current strength and endurance is not required to improve inherited potential.

  2. Pick an affordable breeding route

The town breeder avoids buying a stallion and building a Breeding Station immediately. Build the Parking Lot first, take the trailer to the breeder in town, select your mare and compare the available sires. A home cover needs your own stallion and Breeding Station stage 1.

  3. Check that the horses can breed today

Use horses aged at least 12 and below 180 in-game days. Both must be fit to ride, and neither can already have bred or competed that day. A nursing mare can be covered again. Check these requirements before spending money or using semen.

  4. Select and cover the pair

At your Breeding Station, choose Select Own Mare, choose Select Stallion, and use Cover Mare for a natural cover. Do the final parent check before confirming. The Lab is optional for a first cover; it opens at stage 2 and helps compare later pairings.

Use Select Own Mare for your mare and Select Stallion for the sire. The Lab is a separate entrance.
  5. Confirm the result, not just the attempt

Select the mare in the stable and open Medical to read her Medical Report. Successful pregnancy is stated in the report, together with the sire and due day. The insemination message alone does not confirm pregnancy. Use the report’s day for your calendar.

The pregnancy sentence names the sire and due day. Day 16 belongs to this save, not every pregnancy.
  6. Prepare for birth and growth

Keep hay available and monitor body condition, with extra feeding during the second half of pregnancy and nursing. The mare stops being rideable four days after the cover. Birth is at cover day +8, the yearling move is at +12, and adulthood is at +20. Reserve a yearling place and then an adult stall before those transitions.

What success looks like

The Medical Report identifies a pregnancy with the intended sire and a due day. The next milestone is the birth on that reported day.

If the result is different

If the action is unavailable, recheck age, ride fitness and today’s breeding/competition use. If insemination did not produce a pregnancy, that day’s attempt is still spent: check again on a later day with another dose or use an eligible natural cover. If the report names the wrong sire, check mixed stable groups before planning the next pairing.
