Breeding notebook / PC full release — November 2026
Confirm pregnancy and care for the mare until weaning
A pregnancy is confirmed in the mare’s Medical Report, which names the sire and due day. Birth is eight in-game days after the cover. Riding stops four days after the cover and resumes after the foal becomes a yearling at +12. Keep hay supplied, monitor body condition and provide extra feed and permitted exercise during late pregnancy and nursing.

The decision, step by step
Open the report immediately after the attempt
Select the mare in the stable, choose Medical, and read the pregnancy sentence. The screenshot shows a successful pregnancy by Fantasma with a due day of 16. Your save will show its own sire and day. An insemination notification does not establish success.

Use the actual cover day as the baseline. If the cover was day 8, birth is day 16, the yearling move is day 20, and adulthood is day 28. The mare’s report is the direct check for the due day.

Pregnancy and nursing — offsets from the cover day Offset What changes What to do +0 Cover; foal potential and starting Confidence are set Confirm pregnancy and record due day +1 to +3 Normal work remains available Maintain ordinary care and training +4 to +7 Second half of pregnancy; no riding Monitor feed and use permitted ground exercise +8 Birth; nursing begins Check mare and foal; keep up feeding and walks +11 Space warning if needed Free a yearling place before the next day +12 Foal becomes a yearling; nursing ends Check the mare’s return to normal work and the youngster’s housing Feed according to body condition
The launch guide reports an extra 15 body-condition loss per day from +4 through the nursing period, with grain adding 25 per feed. Keep the hay rack full and monitor the body-condition indicator each day; a feed amount is not a reason to ignore a horse becoming too thin or too heavy. Missing hay creates a separate condition loss. Good or difficult feeding traits can change how much individual mares need.
Change exercise when riding becomes unavailable
In late pregnancy, lunging and permitted walks remain available but do not increase strength or endurance. After birth, use Leading, Confidence Training or available walking trails; lunging is no longer available while nursing. Start with the options your yard has already unlocked, rather than planning care around a locked beach or mountain trail.
Expect a retraining period
Current strength and endurance can decay during the period without normal training. Allowed daily exercise reduces the loss; it does not preserve every point or raise inherited potential. After the foal becomes a yearling, check the mare’s current values and resume an appropriate training block before returning to demanding competition.
Prepare the foal’s next home
The newborn remains with the mare for four days. Before the +12 transition, reserve room in a Yearling Paddock or a free stable place. If you breed the nursing mare again, account for the next newborn and the earlier youngster separately; overlapping pregnancies increase the space and care load.
What success looks like
The mare’s pregnancy has a recorded sire and due day, the foal is born at the expected milestone, and the mare and youngster reach the yearling transition with feed and housing arranged.
If the result is different
If there is no pregnancy sentence after insemination, plan a later attempt instead of counting down to a birth. If riding is unavailable during late pregnancy or nursing, use the permitted ground activities. If condition drops, check hay first, then feed and current workload. If she cannot resume normal work after the yearling transition, inspect her Medical Report for another problem.
